1. PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The five in a 5S workplace organizational and housekeeping methodology refers to five steps – sort, set in order, shine, standardize and sustain. Safety should be the honorary sixth “S.”

6S is method of creating, maintaining and improving a clean and orderly workplace that exposes waste, errors and hazards. It helps identify unplanned levels of inventory, inadequate work processes, wasted time and equipment inefficiencies. 6S is a great place to start on your continuous improvement initiative, because it promotes an action oriented approach to change and allows everyone in the organisation to get involved and provide input with improving their workplace.

5S is much more than just “housekeeping”. Key components of the 6S philosophy are safety and good housekeeping practices. Safety is an integral part of the sort, set in order and shine segment of any 6S project. With the element of safety, this training also emphasizes on eliminating source of hazards in workplace. Standardize and sustain refers to methods used to ensure that safety and good housekeeping is maintained. Learn to reduce waste through a systematic application of 6S principles. This one day workshop teaches the basic 6S techniques and illustrates that its implementation immediately reduces waste, increase productivity and also a great contributor to making the workplace a safer and better place.
